The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge

In 2010, I saw this book on a library shelf. I found its title very interesting and the brain symbol always fantasizes me. However, I was "too busy" to read it until NOW.

The 1st Chapter: "PLASTICITY"
I viewed brain as CPU, memory as HHD, short-term memory as RAM ans all the calculating, reasoning, logic, understanding as the processor. I did believe that brain damage can't be cured. We can replaced the damaged with stem cells and electronics but the brain cured itself is 'magical' to me. From the case-study in the book, I can accept the miracle of neuroplasticity. Although the chances for such blessing to happen might be 1 in a million, it is still a possibility.

Plasticity tells me that brain is much more flexible, an advanced organ, able to fix and 'rewire'. Qualities such as open-minded, willingness, diligent, determined and passion, also HOPE must exist in the heart of patient.

2nd Chapter: Building
This concept can be 'digested' easier. In this episode, a girl, Barbara who never gives up finally became an 'extra'-ordinary person. It is a classic 'Cinderella' story. She used her strength to cover her weakness. She put more and more effort than normal people would do, willing to sacrifice precious sleeping hours. She discovered herself, defects and strength, improving herself. Nonetheless, she offered her experiences, knowledge, time, energy to help others like her. Barbara Arrowsmith Young is a remarkable educator and society contributor.

"Use it or lose it"- Brain is like a muscle that grows with EXERCISE!

Concept: Everyone has different ways to act and react. Concept is much more abstract, 'imaginative' and 'personal'.  Depending to the situation, perspective, culture and knowledge, people generates different of concept to a subject.

Idea: Human has the privilege of brain to keep generating "IDEAS". Are you black/white/asian? Are you rich/poor? Are you well-educated/illiterate? Are you smart/average/retard? Are you normal/crazy? Those do not matter at all! Idea is not 'evil' neither 'good'. However, the moral and motives which behind the idea judge it's ethical values.

So, here is the birth of... ... ...
